Big Daddy, aka Harold Groetsema, was proclaimed Alaska's King of BBQ by the Alaskan State Legislature

Nobody cooks authentic Southern-style BBQ like Big Daddy's. For more years than he cares to admit, Big Daddy has served up some of the most delicious and sought after BBQ in the state of Alaska.

With our primary location at 107 Wickersham Street in Fairbanks and two other locations in and around Fairbanks, Big Daddy's is the nation's northernmost source of award winning bbq.

Watch for us at the Tanana Valley State Fair, August 6-14, 2010.  It's a Groetsema tradition to bring in the best of our BBQ cooking clan for the state fair.  If there is a line it's because it's worth the wait.  We don't call it bragging.  We just call it good eatin'.  If you're standing in that line you won't be disappointed.

Our meats are slowly cooked over hickory-wood, so whether you dine-in, take-out or have it catered we are sure you will agree that Big Daddy's BBQ is world class.

Guy Fieri and Harold Groetsema Big Daddy's BarB-Q featured on the Food Network

Guy Fieri has a passion for visiting America's most interesting and unique restaurants on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  We're guessing that would make us either "interesting" or "unique". Maybe both!

Big Daddy's BarB-Q was part of the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives Holiday Special. We'll have some video of that up here soon.  Can't tell you how much fun that was to shoot.  We had to shut down the restaurant for the filming but it was certainly an honor to be featured on the Food Channel's holiday show.

By the way, Guy Fieri told Big Daddy that he plans to bring his family to Alaska for their 2010 summer vacation.  Big Daddy's will be one of their points of destination.

Watch for several of Guy's favorite dishes as specials on our menu.  If you ever have a chance to order Guy's absolute favorite, the brine smoked turkey, do so.  It is awesome.  Big Daddy's smokers are turned on 24/7 around Thanksgiving time, but we also cook up a few birds for our dine in customers during the year.   Your waitress will let you know when it is available.
